At IMPACTO, we conduct strengths-based and community-engaged research with, for, and by immigrant and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) youth. With the understanding that oppression is a structural determinant shaping the health and development of these youth, our team seeks to identify and promote factors that both allow immigrant and BIPOC youth to do well in the face of oppression (resilience) and empower them to take collective action to resist and challenge oppression (resistance). We aim to conduct research and engage in partnerships that directly benefit immigrant and BIPOC communities and advance prevention, health promotion, and equity efforts.
